Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM)
This article is only applicable to users of Workplace Advanced.
Workplace features two mobile apps that are available on both iOS and Android – Workplace and Workplace Chat. For customers that use an Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution, our mobile apps can receive certain configurations through the native APIs available on iOS and Android.
These integrations adhere to the specifications defined by appconfig.org, which is a standards body formed by many of the leading EMM vendors. Appconfig members include:
  • VMWare
  • MobileIron
  • IBM
  • SOTI
  • JAMF
  • Blackberry
The Workplace apps are configurable by any of these solutions.

The MSI (Microsoft Installer) is an installer package file format used by Windows for the installation, storage and deletion of programs.
The installer has the following deployment features for Workplace Chat:
  • Installs an installer in program files.
  • Sets a registry setting to run the installer on log in.
  • Optionally runs the installer. If you don't want this step (ex: the MSI is running by some provisioning system across many PCs), then run with "START=N" e.g: msiexec /i WorkplaceChat.msi START=N
  • By default the app will run on first start which we recommend, but you can disable it with msiexec /i WorkplaceChat.msi INSTALLEROPTS="/S" which runs the installer in silent mode.
